The classroom is the basic building block of the educational environment. The laboratory is the building block of the research environment. We design classrooms, laboratories, and the buildings that house them to reflect the demands of teaching and research, and the needs of students for settings that enhance learning and enquiry.
We design these buildings with clear, simple patterns of circulation and systems. We use natural light and structure to define points of entry. And because learning and research also takes place outside formal learning environments, we create places in corridors and at doorways to encourage the chance meetings and conversations that also further knowledge and understanding.
