For most of the firm’s history we have been working on the design of schools, public and private, large and small. We have carried out educational projects for new buildings, adaptive reuse, restoration and renovation: for classrooms and laboratories, spaces for the arts and technology, gymnasia and indoor swimming pools, offices, and for outdoor spaces. Our services in school design include programming and master planning, full architectural services and interior design.

Our experience has led to an appreciation of how to design for education, and how to create environments that nurture the young. Curricula and teaching methods are always in flux, so we design schools that have simple, carefully-proportioned, flexible spaces that allow for change to occur gracefully over time. Our schools are spirited, economical, efficient, and integrated into the ecology of their geographical settings and the communities they serve.
