Offices

Inspired by a Spirit of a Place

Newman has two offices on the East Coast—one in New Haven, CT, and one in Washington, DC. Both are surrounded by physical settings that remind us every day of the power of the built environment and its potential to transform lives.

Both offices are equal contributors to accomplishing the work we undertake.

New Haven, CT

Our New Haven office is in a building that was once an automobile showroom, then a garage, then a bowling alley, then a laundry, before being repurposed as our studio. Facing into an urban courtyard, and in the center of a student shopping district and on Yale University’s campus, we are surrounded by a living museum of great architecture, representing the work of many of the most significant architects of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, including Eero Saarinen, whose Morse and Stiles Colleges are our neighbors.

Washington, DC

Located in Georgetown and serving our Mid-Atlantic clients, our Washington, DC office is in a building that was the home of a punch card company that would become part of IBM. We see in our office here how past and present come together, in spaces transformed by new ways of living and working. In Washington, we continue with the drive and focus first established in our New Haven office to make and remake places that serve and elevate life.
