Newmark Knight Frank : New Haven, CT
Our design provides improvements to the public spaces of the building, to attract new tenants to the complex.
Transforming the quality of the interior started with the full renovation of the existing lobby. Newman Architect’s scheme creates a contemporary design intervention reflective of the building’s historic industrial origins. The once cluttered and uninviting space has been cleared and greatly simplified so that the “good bones” of the original space are manifest. The visitor’s experience is further enlivened and brightened through the use of a warm neutral palette of materials and colors. Limestone marble tiles for the floors and stairs, panelized plaster walls, open meshwork guardrails, and softly curved “floating” ceiling panels all contribute to an airy sense of expansiveness in the new two story space. Improvements include installation of new elevator cabs; renovation of common areas on all floors; upgrading of the building’s HVAC controls and equipment; and, replacement of lighting with energy efficient fixtures.
