Fairfield University Avery Dulles S.J. Hall

The new Avery Dulles S.J. Hall opened to Fairfield University sophomore student residents for the fall 2024 semester. Dulles Hall helps support Fairfield’s ongoing growth and meets a pressing need for more on-campus student housing. The three-story building houses 120 students adjacent to existing Faber Hall and shares a new landscaped terrace at ground level. Stacked student lounges above the entrances create the signature “lantern” that Newman defined in previous Fairfield residence hall projects. Trellises, sunshades, and stone coursing add additional visual interest to this precinct on the South side of campus. The project was designed and built in a fast-tracked process that began concept design in March 2023, broke ground in August 2023, and was completed on time a year later.
