Halstead Station is a twenty-four story residential tower at the Metro-North train station in downtown New Rochelle, NY, where a reconfigured ground floor and street grid transformed the way pedestrians access the train station, apartment building, and downtown area.
This project included a ground floor reconfiguration and renovation of the existing apartment building, Halstead Station. Demolition of a neighboring building immediately to the north freed up space to create a new street and parking lot, changing the address from Huguenot Street to the new Sherwood Road, and creating opportunity for a another twenty-four story mixed-use apartment building. The existing ground floor retail and residential apartments at Halstead Station were transformed into a leasing office and a recreation and gathering space for residents, including a gym, game room, children’s room, and casual meeting and work space. An additional 6,000 square foot outdoor amenity garden replaced the old amenities, providing additional gathering and recreation space for the 400 residents.
