The site for this mixed use development consists of two large parking areas surrounding the “Pinto House” an early nineteenth century 2 story federal style residence listed on the National Register. The plan of development consists of a new 7 story structure containing 102 rental apartments, street level retail, 8,000 square feet of interior and exterior space on a tenant amenity level, and covered parking. Allowing the new structure to be developed required the relocation and preservation of the Pinto house on site. Bringing residential, retail, and pedestrian life to this location fills a major gap in the city streetscape and adds to the safety and attractiveness at the heart of this downtown New Haven precinct.
