After a devastating fire destroyed the historic Wampanoag Country Club clubhouse in April 2024, the leadership of the 400-member club sought to rebuild as quickly as possible. That brought them to the well-tested design-build partnership of KBE and Newman. Our work designing the new clubhouse’s architecture, interiors, and lighting began with the goal of a an open environment with clear delineation between members only and non-member spaces that captures incredible views of the club’s main asset—their recently renovated, Donald Ross-designed course.

Just seven months after the fire, the design-build team broke ground on the new building. A steel structure with New England coastal shingle-style character features simple and straightforward details creates a country club aesthetic unique to Wampanoag that will serve their members for generations to come.

Grand Welcome

A double-height atrium creates a grand entrance impression with expansive views of the course from members-only spaces upstairs, including a large roof deck, bar, simulator room, and administrative spaces.

Flexible Use

On the ground floor, flexible spaces accommodate multiple uses to make the most of the new building. Pocket doors between the main bar, member dining room, and function room, which all open to outside patio seating, allow the clubhouse to host weddings of up to 200 guests.

Unique Identity

A palette of greens, blues, tan, and white on the interiors is inspired by the colors and textures of the golf course outside. The pre-function room is a special space that also serves as a morning lounge, bridal suite, or for new member welcome events.
